Intervening during yesterday's Senedd Debate on the Draft Budget for 2026/27, North Wales MS Mark Isherwood highlighted the consequences of ignoring warnings from experts.
Speaking in the Chamber, Mr Isherwood referred to warnings by the housing sector, hospice and palliative care sector, and key third sector providers which the Welsh Government have failed to act on.
He said:
"Sound finance means that one leads to the other.
“Who will you blame when the Finance Secretary’s failure to heed the warnings of the Housing sector will worsen homelessness and the housing emergency; failure to heed the warnings of the Hospice and Palliative Care sector will increase pain, suffering and the cost pressure on our hospitals; and failure to heed the warnings of key third sector service providers, for cancer, cerebral palsy, mental health and substance misuse, will worsen life chances. Who will you blame then?"
