My Welsh Conservatives colleagues and I have long stated HS2 should have been regarded as an England-only project.
It is disappointing to note that in the Autumn 2024 Budget, the UK Labour Government made no mention of HS2 funding being delivered to Wales or the electrification of the North Wales Mainline. This is despite their Welsh Government colleagues being very vocal in calling for fair HS2 consequentials to be brought to Wales, prior to the General Election.
Since the election of Labour in Westminster, Labour members of the Senedd have been awfully quiet on this issue, showing that they prioritise their Party over Wales.
The Welsh Conservatives have consistently called for fair HS2 funding to develop a modern, sustainable rail network that drives economic growth for all of Wales. My colleagues and I will keep fighting for fair funding for Welsh rail infrastructure.
