Bangor University’s financial difficulties

Thank you for contacting me about Bangor University’s financial difficulties.

I understand your concerns regarding Bangor University’s funding, especially after the recent announcement that the University is planning to cut around 200 jobs.

Labour’s National Insurance hike continues to heap pressure on industries across Wales, it was inevitable these pressures would ripple across the higher education sector. As seen with the 400 jobs that are being cut at Cardiff University.

Bangor University is a vital institution in North Wales. It is imperative that Bangor University is adequately funded to ensure that it can offer a wide range of courses and produce a strong, Welsh workforce for the future.

After 26 years of Labour failure in Wales, the education sector, and in particular, universities deserve security and a fix to these deep rooted issues.

Once again, thank you for raising this issue with me.
